Health and Safety Policy — Gardening Services Alperton

This Health and Safety Policy sets out the commitment of Gardening Services Alperton and other variations of our trade to protect the health, safety and welfare of our staff, clients and members of the public. It applies to all routine grounds care, garden maintenance Alperton contracts and one-off landscape works we undertake. The purpose of this policy is to define responsibilities, control measures and workplace standards so that operations are undertaken with safety as a core value.

Scope: This policy covers all staff, subcontractors and visitors engaged through local gardening services in Alperton and surrounding areas. It applies to tasks such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, tree pruning, planting and the use of powered equipment. It also encompasses storage, transport and handling of materials and fuels used during garden maintenance.

H2: Responsibility and Organisation

Management has overall responsibility for implementing, monitoring and maintaining this health and safety policy. Supervisors and team leads are responsible for ensuring safe systems of work are followed and that staff have appropriate training and equipment. Employees are required to follow all safe working practices, report hazards promptly and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as instructed. Nobody is exempt from these duties.

H3: Competence, Training and Supervision

Safe systems of work include traffic management for roadside sites, exclusion zones for tree works and the use of barriers and signage when using powered equipment near the public. Manual handling tasks are assessed and mechanical aids used where feasible. Emergency procedures are documented and communicated, and first aid provision is available on-site in proportion to the scale of the job.

Incident reporting and investigation form part of continuous improvement. All accidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences are reported, recorded and investigated promptly to identify root causes and prevent recurrence. Findings and corrective actions are shared with teams to reinforce learning and enhance safe practices across all gardening operations.

Monitoring, review and communication are core to this policy. Regular safety audits, toolbox talks and site briefings keep health and safety measures current. Senior management will review this policy at least annually or after significant incidents or changes in operations.
